A behaviour-change programme with human coaching, against a $0 logging tool. Barely the same product category.
Noom Weight Loss, Food Tracker

Not really a calorie tracker so much as a weight-loss programme delivered through an app: daily psychology lessons, a colour-coded food system, group support and human coaching. Priced accordingly, and marketed on behaviour change rather than on counting.

A camera-first tracker. Point at the plate for an AI estimate you confirm in two taps, or scan a barcode or nutrition label to get exact published figures instead. Built around the idea that a photo estimate is an estimate, with cuisine coverage beyond American food databases. New, and small.

Which one to pick
Choose Noom Weight Loss, Food Tracker if
the missing piece is not data but behaviour, and you want structured psychology lessons and human coaching to work through it. That is a real service with real staff costs behind it, and if it is what you need, no logging app substitutes for it.
Choose KalTrack if
you want a tool, not a programme, and you would rather not pay programme prices for one.
The verdict
Comparing these two is slightly unfair to both. Noom sells a coached behaviour-change programme; KalTrack sells a fast way to write down what you ate. The price difference reflects a genuine difference in what is being delivered, not a markup.
So the question is not which app is better but which problem you have. If you have tried tracking several times and stopped for reasons that were emotional rather than practical, a psychology curriculum and a human coach address that, and a faster camera does not. Take Noom, or something like it.
If your problem is mechanical — you know what to do, you just stop logging by Wednesday because it is tedious — then you are paying a lot of money for lessons you do not need, and the ten-second version of the boring part is the thing that would actually help.
One thing worth carrying over from Noom regardless of what you pick: its colour system exists because calorie density matters more than precision. That is also why KalTrack tells you a photo estimate is an estimate. Both apps, differently, are trying to stop you treating a number as gospel.
Method: figures come from each app's public App Store listing on the day this page was built, and from each app's own published pricing. Features were checked against the apps' own descriptions. We make KalTrack, so treat this as our account of the difference, not a review.
