Comparison

KalTrack vs Yazio

A polished European tracker with strong recipe and fasting support, against a camera-first logger.

AI Calorie Tracker by Yazio

4.7 from 50,150 ratings · Free

A well-designed tracker with a large European following, strong recipe content, and built-in intermittent fasting support. Good coverage of European packaged foods, which most American-built databases handle poorly, and a clean, approachable interface.

5.0 from 1 rating · Free

A camera-first tracker. Point at the plate for an AI estimate you confirm in two taps, or scan a barcode or nutrition label to get exact published figures instead. Built around the idea that a photo estimate is an estimate, with cuisine coverage beyond American food databases. New, and small.

Which one to pick

Choose AI Calorie Tracker by Yazio if

you are in Europe and buy European packaged food, you want recipes and meal plans built in, or you are combining calorie tracking with intermittent fasting. Its product coverage outside the US is a real advantage.

Choose KalTrack if

your food is mostly cooked rather than packaged, and photographing it beats finding it in a list.

The verdict

Yazio is one of the better-built trackers in the category and it solves a problem American apps mostly ignore: European packaged food coverage. If you shop in a German or Spanish supermarket, its database will beat a US-centric one repeatedly, and that alone can decide it.

Where KalTrack differs is what happens when the food is not packaged. Yazio's core loop is still a search, with photo logging added on the paid tier; KalTrack's core loop is the camera, with barcode and label scanning free and unlimited underneath it. If most of what you eat comes off a stove rather than out of a wrapper, that difference shows up every single meal.

Yazio also bundles fasting and recipe content that KalTrack has no equivalent of, and it is on Android and the web. It is the broader product.

The split is roughly: packaged-food-heavy and multi-feature, take Yazio. Cooked-food-heavy and friction-sensitive, try KalTrack. If you eat a lot of Indian, East Asian, or African food, that is also where our cuisine handling was aimed.

Method: figures come from each app's public App Store listing on the day this page was built, and from each app's own published pricing. Features were checked against the apps' own descriptions. We make KalTrack, so treat this as our account of the difference, not a review.
